Review:

The long awaited Piaggio Fly 150 3v is finally here, and I have to say, I am impressed. However, I must express my disapointment with the fact that unlike our European cousins.... we do NOT get the rear disk brake. It is drum.

Nonetheless, there are many more features on this bike that make up for it. For starters, the Brown Master Key is back on the Fly, and it also comes with the foldable side stand. Once deployed (and it will stay deployed!!) it WILL kill the engine just like its big brother the BV 350.

Speaking of which, when you start the Fly, it really sounds like a mini version of the BV 350!!

Overall the quality of the bike, especially on the dash area is improved quite a bit. For example, when you go to set the clock, you can feel the buttons are much more of a higher quality than before. The hand grips are the same as the Typhoon and of high quality rubber with Piaggio stamped on them and a pattern that follows the pattern of the rubber on the floor board. Very nice.

The gas tank has been rederected to the floor board and the battery to the left side of the glove box. That means that when you open the seat.... you get double the space compared to the old Fly 150. Very impressive.

Sitting on it and you can really tell that this Fly is lower than the one it replaces, and it is on par with the Genuine Buddy; this is a welcome feature for sure!!!
The floor board is actually a little longer than the previous Fly and now the passenger peg extend out (with a very cool matte black finish on them) and you won't have to worry about hitting your leg on it anymore.

Riding the bike.
It is extremely smooth thanks to its alloy 12' wheels and these new wheels look gorgeous with their double 5 spoke pattern. The engine as I said before sounds like a mini BV, and minimal vibrations. Take off is very quick initially thanks to the fuel injection; what is interesting though is that it seems like it slows down right afterwards but once you get the mid range power band, then it just takes off. I had to cut off at 65, but it was still going!!

Just like the old Fly or the Vespa, with its long wheel base, the bike handles very well and is very nimble. Brakes even with rear drum are very good.
